Going back to an old lesson

Expecting new results from a previous experience is what most people would define as insanity. Curiosity is the hallway between the past and what’s to come.

On the journey from one door to the next, we sometimes find ourselves pivoting to the door that has been shut. In spite of that, we still choose to turn back, grabbing the doorknob, and quietly anticipating a miraculous change on the other side. Forgetting the hurt and pain we felt in that old space.

Why do we go back?

Your intuition pushes you forward but you fail to resist the demons speaking to your curiosity of what could have been. Fear of the unknown consumes you making the future uncertain.

Opening the door to the past, you see the bricks that have sealed the doorway. Feeling the hope slip away, you realize you can’t change your past. No matter how hard you try to break the wall down; it’s impenetrable. Falling to your knees and crying out for one more chance.

One more chance to love that person again

One more chance to administer your revenge

One more chance to make a change bringing comfort and love to a situation where you caused agony and suffering.

At that moment, you become complacent in the “what ifs”. You make a bed and lie there in front of the door of your past. Moving forward seems like too much work. You’re afraid because there’s no blueprint for the future because you’re the one who has to create it.

You hear a door opening; you look across the hallway and see the future cracked open a little. You get glimpses of yourself smiling an image of unimaginable possibilities floating by. You slowly sit up in your bed of weakness, you pull back the comforter of depression, placing your feet on the ground of faith. Standing tall and walking over to the door of what is to come; God’s protection becomes thicker. The door is open for you. Allowing the vision of a greater you to be the charge that brought you back to life giving you courage and strength to walk into your greatness.
